The use of nuclear energy in the non-power sector is essential in addition to the use of renewable energy for achevement of greenhouse gas emission reduction target. Flexible electric power sources are needed since renewable energy output is an unstable. JAEA consideres to use a high temperature gas reactor cogeneration system which can absorb fluctuations in renewable energy and provide stable power supply. Even if it's used as a regulated power supply, the generation unit price from the high temperature gas reactor cogeneration system is constant but the hydrogen cost increases by 19% due to a decrease in the operation rate of the H production plant.
